Canada’s Rising Puck Stoppers Gather Mixing With the Veterans...

Goaltender alert: 17 goaltenders have been invited to attend Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Program goaltending camp, taking place June 7-10 at the WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex.
The list of invitees includes six under-18 goalies, as well as 11 under-22 and senior netminders, who have the opportunity to work with several instructors both on and off the ice during the four-day camp at Hockey Canada’s new home at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

The goaltending camp roster features Charline Labonté (Boisbriand, Que./McGill University, CIS) and Geneviève Lacasse (Kingston, Ont./Providence College, HE), who both won a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship this April in Burlington Vt.; as well as Elaine Chuli (Waterford, Ont./Stoney Creek, PWHL) and Emerance Maschmeyer (Bruderheim, Alta./Lloydminster, AJHL), who both won a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship in January in Zlin, Czech Republic.

In total, the invitees include five players with experience on Canada’s National Women’s Team (Kessler, Labonté, Lacasse, Szabados and St-Pierre), seven players with experience on Canada’s National Women’s Under-22/Development Team (Douville, Howe, Kessler, Labonté, Lacasse, Szabados and St-Pierre), as well as six players with experience on Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team (Chuli, Desbiens, Douville, Howe, MacDonald and Maschmeyer).

Instructors for the camp include Matt Cockell (Winnipeg, Man./Brandon, WHL), Joe Johnston (Lower Sackville, N.S./Dalhousie University, CIS), Andy Nowicki (Red Deer, Alta.), Perry Wilson (Windsor, Ont./University of Windsor, CIS), and Canada’s National Women’s Team alumna Danielle Dubé (Vancouver, B.C.). The on-ice sessions are open to public and media.
